In 1989, a Chinese student stood in front of a tank. Thirty seven years later, Fengsuo Zhou came to Bucharest to explain why it mattered. "The Legacy of 1989" explored the connection between University Square and Tiananmen Square, the legacy of freedom movements, Moldova's independence and the role of civil society, and the lessons of the past for today's generations.
The event was organized by Students For Liberty Romania with the support of the Museum of Communist Horrors of Romania. The first stop of the Liberty Road Romania 2026 tour: four cities, four conversations about freedom.
